A Brief Summary of Fochta in the Past Academic Year

Fochta has been running smoothly as a NGO in the past year. As you know, our principle work has been to support education to orphans since our inception in 2003.

Apart from providing bursaries and support to secondary school students, we have now 25 students who have graduated with bachelor degrees. The latest two are Alice Mleme who graduated in B Commerce, while Chisomo Bislasi graduated in B Sc-Agricultural Management.

We now have six undergraduates. They are doing courses from early childhood management to agriculture, etc.

Chifundo Makwinja will by April 2026 have completed his master degree in public health from Eden University in Zambia. By then, he will be the fifth student under our care to have obtained a master degree. Out of that number, three had studied master degree in South Africa. They are Clara Lemani (M Sc - Statistical Science, Dyton Liphale (M. Education) and Aaron Mwafulirwa - (M Sc - Physiotherapy). is now a lecturer at the College of Medicine in Blantyre while Keith Mwitiwa, the Chair of the Fochta Board of Trusteesw, had obtained his M Sc - Management Studies.

One of our shining stars is Funani Malata. After his graduation, he has served as a gynaecologist in a district hospital. Then two month ago, he was promoted to be the clinical officer in gynaecology and obstetrics for a leading district hospital.

All these have been made possible by kind donors for which we cannot thank them enough.
