Alumni Update

Amadu Bwanali was our secondary school and university beneficiary. He obtained a degree in Bachelor of Social Science from the Catholic University in Malawi.

After his graduation, he worked for us for a while and later became the Executive Director. He then moved on to work for CAMFED, an international NGO. He serves now as its District Operations Officer whose job is to manage a bursary education programme. CAMFED’s main focus is to tackle poverty and inequality of women.

Amadu lost his mother when he was 9, then his father when 13. He was raised by his grandmother during his primary school period. Thereafter, he was raised by Mrs. Mathiya who later became FOCHTA’s Grassroots Committee Chairperson. She sits also on FOCHTA’s Board of Trustees. Amadu is married with a daughter of 15 months.

Amanda said that, “FOCHTA has been my parent since 2003. It has made my education possible and later given me even professional experience”.
