Former FOCHTA beneficiaries return the favour

Following the sponsorship of two secondary school bursaries by FOCHTA co-founder Steven Labana in September this year, two FOCHTA staff members have followed suit and are now helping pay secondary school fees for two students. The donors are Amadu Bwanali, the Executive Director, and Zione Matale, the Financial Officer.

Also in November this year, Charles Sokoso, a former FOCHTA beneficiary and staff member has offered to support a student. Charles himself was previously supported by FOCHTA which allowed him to do secondary schooling, then subsequently obtain a Diploma in Animal Health at the College of Natural Resources. He had worked for two years as FOCHTA’s Program Officer before moving on to work in the Malawian Government’s Dept of Animal Health & Livestock Development.

It is hoped that such generosity from FOCHTA-connected people will inspire others both within and without the country to do the same. There is now a waiting list of over 100 orphans who cannot attend secondary schools as they are not free.
