Student Heston Gracium

Heston is one of the students who is able to attend school thanks to the generous support of Danielle and her friends in Belgium.

Heston was born in 1996, his parents divorced when he was a toddler, and his mother died when he was eight. Heston and his two older brothers all had to drop out of school, being unable to pay the fees required. However a year later Heston returned to school, thanks to his grandmother finding the money for fees.

When he was about to write his final primary exams, he came down with tuberculosis, missed six months of classes and had to repeat the year.

Throughout his childhood he has periodically suffered ill-health due to poor nutrition and overall poverty.

With the support of good people like Danielle, Heston has been a FOCHTA beneficiary since gaining entry to secondary school in Form 1 in 2013.

This has eased the worry and stress for both Heston and his very old and poor grandmother. As well as his bursary, Heston receives maize each month, a blanket, shoes and school equipment such as his calculator and maths instruments.

FOCHTA would like to thank Danielle and her team of friends, her son Alexander and daughter Charlotte, and to wish everyone who participated in organizing the fundraising events, sound health and blessings from God.
