Message from FOCHTA patron Claude Ho in Malawi

Greetings from Malawi. Yesterday, I went to visit one of our former beneficiaries Otis Byson who has graduated from a teacher training college and is now working in the Nansato Primary School in the Thyolo District. The school has 2315 students from Primary 1 to 8, consisting of 20 classes, averaging 115 children in each. The problem is they only have 14 classrooms, so 4 have to be held in the open air. Luckily in this case, there are trees, plenty of boulders and some gentle slopes. The only teaching aid is a blackboard. And when it rains, Otis told me, they all scrambled into the covered classrooms, meaning over 200 kids crowded in one room.
