Eula, A FOCHTA IT Student

Eula Chisunzi has been learning IT in our VTC for over a year. She has just sat for an external Level 4 examinations conducted by the ABMA, a reputable institution in the UK.

Prior to doing this course, Eula had graduated as a primary school teacher at the Blantyre Teachers Training College to be a primary school teacher. She had followed in the footsteps of her parents who are both primary school teachers.

In Malawi, it may take a long time to obtain a posting from the government authorities before getting a teaching position. She therefore decided to learn Computing & Information Systems at our VTC.

It is the desire of her to be able to get a teaching job and become independent so that her parents can instead support her five brothers and sisters. This will also allow her to do Level 5 which she hopes to start in the near future.

Eula is boarding at our VTC. During her spare time, she serves as a volunteer to help gather data and other administrative works. The opinion of the office management is that she always carries out her work in a meticulous fashion. Her learnings in IT will certainly be in good stead for her in a country where, especially in the rural district like FOCHTA, the majority of secondary students are computer illiterate.
