A letter from Enock Naphanzi

Enock Naphanzi was a FOCHTA student beneficiary who completed his journalism course in 2012 at the Malawi Institute of Journalism. He is now working with the Malawi Electoral Commission. Below is a letter he recently wrote to the Patron of FOCHTA.

Dear Claude

It’s really a pleasure to write to you after a long time. However, I am happy that another opportunity has emerged that we can renew our long time friendship.

Though I have missed you a lot,  but you are still a lovely friend to me and I believe you are glad to hear from me again.

I believe you would be happy to hear what is happening around Malawi, your second home. 2014 is the year Malawi is going to make history because for the first time this year, Malawi is preparing to hold tripartite elections where voters will elect councilors, members of Parliament and president at the same time.

It is because of these elections that I am glad to inform you that the Malawi Electoral Commission - the organization that was given mandate to run elections in Malawi – has employed me as their stringer in Neno, one of the districts in the southern region.

Our main duties are to write election stories and send them to all media outlets as most of them have no reporters covering in such remote areas.

Finally, I wish you a very successful 2014 and I will be trying to write to you regularly.

Your friend

Enock Naphazi
