60 New Students from TEVETA Just Been Enrolled

After months of preparations to meet the requirements as specified by TEVETA (Technical, Entrepreneurship, Vocation & Training Authority), an agreement was signed with sixty new students being funded to do their training at our VTC starting on September 5, with registrations held on Sept 2. These include 30 doing carpentry and 29 in tailoring. TEVETA, a quasi-government body, has been tasked by the Malawian Government to promote vocational training for young people. FOCHTA is very excited to be able to collaborate with TEVETA in this venture. The courses conducted will be using the same curriculum as specified by TEVETA. FOCHTA is aiming to have full accreditation from them in time.

The challenge we are facing, as is the case with most vocational centres in Malawi, is the inability of young people affording to pay for their fees. This is especially so in our rural Thyolo District, and even more so among orphaned children.
