FOCHTA Youth Club Activities

The club was formed in 2005 with the aim of providing peer support to our orphaned beneficiaries.

Children who are not orphaned are encouraged to join, in the hope that this will lessen the stigma felt by orphans.

Members meet regularly to help each other with school work, and to discuss issues affecting them.

Youth Farming Programme

Several farming activities are currently undertaken, with the objective of attaining self-sustainability for the young people. Several pieces of land have been rented and students are working in these communal gardens as well as on the plots of land left to them by their deceased parents. Fochta provides seed and fertilizer, and this enables children to boost their food supplies. They are harvesting maize, maize leaves, pumpkins and pigeon peas.
