Students Receiving Solar Lamps and Bicycles

The Blantyre Institute for Community Outreach, “BICO”, an NGO based in Malawi has recently offered to provide ten solar lamps and five bicycles to several of our school girl beneficiaries. This is an initiative by BICO to provide support to vulnerable girls, and they were selected by us on the basis of the hardship that they are facing. In one of the photos can be seen Linda Lambulira. Linda, now in Form 2, lost both her parents when she was not even two and since then has been riased and supported by her grandmother. Linda lives very far from her school (in Malawi, students are assigned to schools by the Education Office so some could be very unlucky to have to walk far to school) and has to walk for over an hour and a half to reach there. With the support of BICO in providing her  with a bicycle and solar lamp, we hope that her school performance will improve in future, and life will be a little easier for her.
