Letter to Claude Ho from VTC IT teacher Emmanuel Msafiri Phiri

Below is a letter written by our VTC’s IT teacher Emmanuel Msafiri Phiri to the FOCHTA Patron. Emmanuel has obtained a Diploma in Computing & Information Systems at the University of Malawi’s Chancellor College. He is now in his second year, studying a Bachelor Degree of Science (Information, Communication & Technology) at Mzuzu University.

 Hello Mr Ho

I am doing so fine and classes are going well with great improvements day by day to students. One thing I like of them is that they are so eager to learn and boost up their capacity of thinking and reasoning. Again they are also able to understand the challenges of books we are currently encountering, so for the time being by utilising the available reference materials online. Currently the IT department has a total of eleven students. In addition, three former students have sat for UK-based ABMA exams in June from 19th to 24th and the results will be out in September this year.

I would also like to say that  I love so much teaching and I am very happy to be a teacher because in teaching, not only students are learning but even myself am learning a lotof new information, hence improving the quality of service delivery to students. Honesty speaking, I see a great future in the IT department at FOCHTA because as of now twenty four students have come asking to want to do the IT course, but the problem is that many who are asking are the ones who have just sat for the Malawi school certificate of education exams (MSCE) and the results are not yet out for them to qualify to do the course. This however gives us much hope that come January 2017, the class will be full of new students. Finally I would love to say thank you so much for keeping me updated in every procedure you are taking to acquire IT text books because this will enable us to have access to information. As you know, the books you are acquiring are required books for the course.

Kind regards

Emmanuel Msafri Phiri
