Letter from student Maureen

My name is Maureen Laston. I have just finished Form 2. My father died when I was seven so my mother took over looking after us five children. There were so many problems we faced, such as lack of food, clothes, a good shelter and many other things.  My mother then found a job working in a company, but died when I was 9, then studying at Primary 4.  It then became very difficult for me, even though my sister had given me helps. I did not have school uniform, excercise books, shoes and so many other things.

But I knew that my life would be better if I could continue my education. My goal is to become a nurse and I will not change that goal.

My studying hard was rewarded by first got selected to a community secondary school, and then another selection got me to study in another, better secondary school. But this time, my sister had no more money to support me and to pay for my school fees. Luckily, I found FOCHTA who helped paid for my school fees and other resources.

Today, I thank the Lord that he allows me to continue my education and my wish is to help my brothers and sisters and also other people who are in needs. Thank you too to all the good people at FOCHTA.
