Joyful News For Our Students

FOCHTA is proud of two beneficiaries who recently completed their undergraduate studies. Keith Mwithiwa has studied for a degree in Bachelor of Science (Nursing & Midwifery) at the Kamazu College of Nursing, a four-year course that has been sponsored by Robyn Lyall in Sydney. He is the second student beneficiary to have done this course. The first one was Brenda Jeremiah who had graduated two years ago. She is now working at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the largest hospital in Blantyre. Keith is preparing to sit for his examinations in April, a final hurdle, in order to become a registered nurse with the Malawian Nurses and Midwives Council.

Meantime, James Mphaya has just completed his four-year studies, obtaining a degree in Bachelor of Science (Agronomy) at the University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR) in Lilongwe. James was sponsored by Ms. Carolyn Stone from Sydney. He is hoping to study for a post graduate program in Special Needs Education should a scholarship be made available. James is now teaching mathematics, physical Science and agriculture at Nang’ombe Community Day Secondary School on a voluntary basis. This is his way of giving back to his community while looking for a job that he has studied for.

FOCHTA would like to wish Keith & James a very bright future.
