Youth and Community Library
A generous donation from the Chen Yet-Sen Family Foundation of Hong Kong has enabled the purchase of several hundred books. It was felt that a library would greatly contribute to the education of the young people in the district, who for the most part have no access to reading material apart from their school texts.
The resources include material relevant to the Malawian school curriculum, on all fields of human interest, and importantly include information on health, especially that dealing with HIV/Aids and its prevention.
Multiple copies of set texts were recently added to the library. Some schools are quite unable to supply text books and students had indicated that this was one of their greatest problems.
Included also are books to inspire and entertain, and the library should be a place where students may find comfort and pleasure, as well as somewhere to study and discover.
